Real Racing
Here we can enjoy some REAL RACING snippets.
Because like The Man said:
So let us try and make the waiting a little more interesting …
Brands Hatch: Class pole quali lap of the Grand Prix Circuit in the Gold Bug Elan.
Cadwell Park – The start of the Historic Roadsports race in the “Road-legal” 1964 S1 Lotus Elan.
We are on pole but the little 1600cc Elan gets out-dragged off the line by the mighty 4600cc of Morgan Plus Eight.
Cadwell Park is very narrow but we are quicker.
The Morgan is very wide, as evidenced by the WIDE LOAD sticker helpfully planted on the back of the plus 8, and it is determinedly driven.
See how we go for a couple of exciting laps of this challenging circuit.
A somewhat more determined run up Kop Hill in the two litre 5-speed Morgan three-wheeler.
The course is about 1100m long, starts on a gradual incline, then the majority at 1 in 6, with the crest 1 in 5.
Had we been flat out, we would have been doing well over 90 mph at the crest and because the event is held on a public road, I am obliged to say that we weren’t flat out. (But I have been known to lie)
It is a demonstration event.
So we showed them!
Ride with John Davison as he shows total commitment in the FIA spec 1964 ex Walker Gold Bug Lotus Elan 26R on a stunning GT class pole qualifying lap for the Guards Trophy race at Croft in 2018.
Barry gives a passanger experience ride to his Niece Emma.
It is a gentle run because she has never been out on track before and it can be a little intimidating.
Formerly an AC Cobra fan, Emma is now a GT40 fan.
John is driving Snetterton long circuit at lap record speed in the black Roadsports Elan during a free practice session.
